Back and forth

I knew it wouldn't be good this week and I was right - I gained a pound! Funny how you can tell without weighing yourself that you have put on. Well, I seem to be able to. There is no point in being cross with myself as things are still not back to normal in my life, whatever 'normal' means. I know I need to be back to being able to concentrate and commit to a week totally on plan and that is not likely right now. Best to do what I can and hope that I just go back and forth with the same pound or two at the moment!

Apologies again to those who were perturbed by my recent photo of cream eggs on my blog! I am surrounded by chocolate eggs until people come and collect their Easter baskets! It's hard but I think I am winning! I'm still keeping the bowl for visitors in the other room and quite often I can forget they are there!!! Fingers crossed that this weekend isn't a disaster on the chocolate front.

Last night in class I bought the new cookbook: Free Food Feasts, mostly because people have posted dishes they have made from it and they looked good. It was also new magazine time! So today I have scanned the recipes in both and picked out the ones I fancy. As luck would have it I had planned stir fry tonight so I was able to make the stir fried beef in oyster sauce on p. 67 of the magazine. Instead of noodles I made spring onion rice though. It was yummy and I will be making it again soon - so simple and quick.

In all today has not been too bad. As I sit here typing this I would really like some ice cream. Last year my daughter bought me an ice cream maker for Christmas - best present she ever bought she says. I've had a wonderful time creating different flavours and have even made SW friendly ones with 0% yoghurt, skimmed milk and sweetener. I can't honestly say it is as good as the cream and whole milk variety but it is ice cream!!!!! That's a plan for this weekend then - my Easter treat to myself - SW friendly ice cream.  I just need to look in my box of flavourings and see what takes my fancy.

Just one hurdle tomorrow - hot cross buns! I have a friend coming round for coffee and a bun. I will allow myself one but I shall go out first thing to buy fresh ones from the bakery - proper buns and not those pretend ones in the cellophane from the supermarket. If you are going to syn then syn with the best option is what I say!
